PIGNEROLLE PARK
A sumptuous park, with a majestic path, lined with hundred-year-old oaks towards the castle, surrounded by meadows and undergrowth
Push open the gates of history and discover this sumptuous park of almost 80 hectares, surrounding the listed château. It is one of the rare examples of French-style gardens in a region dominated by landscaped parks. The main entrance offers a majestic pathway, lined with centuries-old oak trees, to the château built in 1776. Unfortunately, the latter is not open to visitors, but it will remind you of the Petit Trianon at Versailles, from which it was largely inspired. Surrounded by meadows and undergrowth, this park is ideal for sports enthusiasts, who will find orienteering and jogging trails, as well as for families and strollers. Surprisingly, the park is also home to World War II blockhouses, hidden behind the orangery. The "Mémorial des bunkers du parc de Pignerolle" association organizes guided tours all year round (ask the association for details). Over the years, this historic and aesthetic site has also become one of Anjou's leading artistic centers. L'Espace Artistique, a non-profit organization, selects paintings, sculptures and other works of art to be exhibited each year in its 326 m² of art space. Several events take place during the summer months, including the "Jardins d'expression" festival, which showcases plant-based works created by students. It's a journey between past and present that will leave you breathless!
