History. The Selfia brand was born in 2002 with the awareness of a textile engineer, Jean-François Decalonne, of the difficulties of dressing his 93-year-old neighbour. To put on a shirt, he realizes that the simplest gestures can become painful. From this observation, the engineer works on a new concept, with only one objective: to facilitate dressing, as much for the person with a disability, even if it is slight, as for the carer or carer. The creation of a ready-to-wear clothing line adapted to people with a loss of mobility, whether they have a slight disability or total dependence, is becoming obvious. The Selfia brand thus developed autonomously, from 2002 to 2007, in permanent contact with occupational therapists in various hospitals in France in order to give a concrete and pleasant answer to all seniors with loss of mobility. In 2008, the brand was spotted by the textile industrial group Mulliez-Flory based in Longeron, Maine-et-Loire. The group, a leader in professional clothing for health and image, had already developed a collection dedicated to hospital geriatric services in the 1990s. The fusion of their know-how leads to the design of more technical and trendy products to meet the real needs of a population in loss of mobility, with diverse ages and needs.
