GARDENS OF MANOR DE LA GROYE
When a Parisian architect and landscaper meets a Renaissance manor house set in its green setting to be restored, the magic happens... Clinging to the Mont Rude at Saint-Saturnin and open to visitors since 2017, five hectares of gardens classified as "Historic Monument" dominate the Loire Valley. Nature-loving professionals, the owners have remarkably enhanced the grounds, planted several hundred species and landscaped the surroundings of the manor house, recreating terraced gardens that highlight the superb 16th century facades. Spaces with different styles are spread out along the gentle slope: a formal garden punctuated by pointed yews, an arboretum with rare, carefully labelled specimens, a meadow lined with poplars alternating with yews and pruned bushes. A venerable box tree at the top of its 9 meters overlooks the path that you walk along accompanied by the colourful perennials and mixed borders, if not the hydrangeas and rhododendrons. Scents: wisteria, wisteria, linden, roses, caramel tree... embalm according to the season. A small paradise combining plant, cultural, historical and artistic aspects.
