DOMAINE MOURGUY
The estate has 9 hectares of terraced land on the steep slopes of the Arradoy mountain. The Mourguy family, who have been passionate about wine-growing for generations, will explain that the traditional stone work of their house in the Lower Navarre region, Etxeko Harria, is the symbol of this passion. Thus it is necessary to arrange the culture in terrace on slopes exceeding 60 %. A difficult terroir, therefore, with optimal sunshine guaranteeing the good ripeness of the grapes, which requires passion and tenacity for a largely manual work. The estate produces red and rosé wines made from a blend of tannat, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. The red is aged in barrels, which further enhances its beautiful complexity. A visit of the estate is a must, whether classic or more original, by donkey. In fact, associated with the Etxeberia farm, the Mourguy family, puts ten donkeys at the disposal of the amateurs of walks through vineyards (but also mountain and forest), punctuated by picnics on stone tables in the heart of a dazzling nature. On the other hand, on the spot, in an old renovated barn, 4 bedrooms offer a beautiful comfort and a real authenticity for a stay off the beaten track. To discover both the production methods and the region that can be visited without moderation. And without forgetting the tasting (it, with moderation...).
