THE CITADELLA
It is at the crossroads of several districts, in one of the historical places of the city, that part of the University Picardie Jules Verne is established. The Citadelle is now the heart of the UPJV in the city. More than 5,000 students come to learn in an exceptional site that covers more than 13 hectares. The architectural structure has survived the centuries: it served as a place of resistance and was used as a garrison until 1979. Since then it has been completely abandoned and closed to the public. The new student centre was designed by Renzo Piano, the famous architect who built the Centre Georges-Pompidou.
