CHÂTEAU DE PICOL * * *
Chateau with spacious rooms, terrace, heated swimming pool and pond, for a peaceful, relaxing stay in the countryside.
This chateau, built in 1890 and located in the countryside, caught the eye of Christian and Alla. The charm of the grand mansions dating from the late 14th century has taken hold, and the couple would like to share it with tourists. The building is surrounded by a 3-hectare park with a rose garden, a large terrace and a heated swimming pool. The three bedrooms and one suite are spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast is served in the beautiful dining room or on the terrace in summer. In the evenings, a table d'hôtes based on fresh local produce is available on request.

The pool area was perfect; beautifully cleaned by Christian every morning and the grass surrounding it was perfect for the children to play safely. We spent many happy hours in and around the pool.
We loved our bike rides to get bread and pastries in the mornings and there are plenty of lovely places to visit within an hour of Chateau Picol. A lovely holiday. Lovely hosts
We could not have wished for more. It was a wonderful experience to have the family living in the Chateau with ample bedrooms and bathrooms for all.
The chateau which is owned and lovingly looked after by Christian and Alla. They could not do enough to make sure our visit was memorable. Always discreet and always available if needed.
We were greeted on arrival by Christian and Alla and given a hamper of local specialities. The chateau is beautifully decorated and adorned with antiques of the era. The kitchen is so well stocked, you can cook most things with a separate outside BBQ and terrace.
The pool and veranda are probably one of the most delightful features having private use of this facility is a joy. It is cleaned daily by Christian and heated to keep it suitable for the little ones.
We had booked a private chef (through Christian) for my birthday dinner and due to unforeseen circumstances, he was not available.
So, in stepped Christian and Alla to cook an amazing five course banquet meal of special dishes which you would not find in any restaurant in France or the UK. They delivered and served the food as well. An amazing effort by them and a triumph all round. A night to remember.
We purchased wines from Domaine de Villemont, Mirebeau, just a few miles away and worth a visit.
We ate lunch at Restaurant du Champ de Foire in Lencloitre. Amazing food and great value for money.
A daily trip to the bakery for the chocolate croissants and bread is a must.
We wish Chrisitan and Alla great success with the Chateau and we can highly recommend you stay here.
