The Gare de Nice district took a leap in time until the 19th century with the arrival of two new boutique-hotels: The Villa Otéro and the Villa Bougainville. As their names indicate, these two establishments of the Honotel group pay homage to two leading personalities of this period, Caroline Otéro known as "La Belle Otéro" and Louis Antoine de Bougainville
Situated on rue Hérold, the Villa Otéro seems to be straight out of the Belle Epoque, a period which marked the French Riviera by the boom in tourism but also thanks to the emblematic figure of our "Belle Otéro", a singer and dancer from Nice. The interior designer, Stéphanie Cayet, was able to use these two strong identities to put them at the service of the hotel. The 38 rooms were deliberately designed as guest rooms in a large family home of the time. So there are old souvenir photos framed above the headboard. To go in this direction of conviviality, the customers are invited every day between 2 and 6 pm to share the "Grand Goûter" of the Villa Otéro composed of macaroons, tarts, sweets and other colourful and tasty sweets
Just around the corner, Villa Bougainville plunges you into the memories of the travels of Louis Antoine de Bougainville, the famous French navigator of the Age of Enlightenment. The "Atelier Coste et Butin", which is responsible for the decoration of the hotel, has been able to recreate the atmosphere of the explorer's many expeditions thanks to its work on wallpaper and the ceiling lights, mirror frames and armchairs scattered throughout each of the 46 rooms, which recall exotic and vintage decorations. Every afternoon, the establishment offers its customers what it calls "l'Odyssée Gourmand", a tasting of iced teas accompanied by fresh fruit and dried fruit.
