ARCHIVES NATIONALES D'OUTRE MER
Located near the Faculty of Arts, the Overseas Archives Center preserves the French colonial history and the French presence in Algeria. This center was created by André Chanson at the time of decolonization. On this subject, you will find online (IREL) the civil status of Europeans in Algeria from 1830 to 1904 (for civil status less than 100 years old, you must contact Nantes) but also documents concerning Reunion Island, Guadeloupe, Martinique or Guyana. However, you will not find the archives relating to the protectorates (Morocco and Tunisia): they are kept at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You can have the documents you need reproduced on site. If you are working on a subject concerning the French overseas departments and territories or if you have a question, no doubt you will find the answer here.
