The association was born in the 1990 s. Its aim is to perpetuate, in Provence, the ancient tradition of Franco-Russian friendship through the teaching of Russian language and through the promotion of Russian culture. For 20 years, the Russian Language and Culture in the Country of Aix has been hosting a hundred members each year who have: addressed, consolidated or maintained the knowledge of the Russian language with our team of 7 professors, who sang in Slavonic language in the Nacha Volga choir, travelled in many Russian-speaking countries. It is also an associative life marked by the celebration of the Russian new year and the traditional year-end celebration, but also by more informal outings organised throughout the year according to regional events that have attracted Russia. There is also the organisation of cultural conferences or opera concerts, assistance for the reception of young Russian students in the country of Aix, a cinéclub with the projection of Russian Films in original version subtitled in French, a reading circle for an approach of contemporary works and a better knowledge of current life in Russia. And of course, continuous information on Franco-Russian activities in PACA region.
