In 1975, Saint-John Perse, Nobel Prize winner for literature, French diplomat and poet born in Pointe-à-Pitre, bequeathed 15,000 documents to the city of Aix-en-Provence: works from his personal library, manuscripts, correspondence, editions of his work, critical works, works of art, photographs, records... This donation gave rise to the Saint-John-Perse Foundation, whose collection has since been enriched and serves as a working tool for many researchers. It has a dedicated space within the Cité du Livre, partly accessible to the public. Access to the library is restricted to members of the association. The foundation organizes several artistic and literary exhibitions per year.
