MADELEINE CHURCH
This church preserves many works of art including the central panel of the Triptych of the Annunciation, by Barthélemy d'Eyck...
Built by the architect Laurent Vallon between 1691 and 1703, on the foundations of a Dominican convent, the facade was redesigned in 1855 by the Aixois Henri Revoil. This church, long considered the most beautiful in the Bouches-du-Rhône and where François de Malherbe, Gaspard de Gueidan and Paul Cézanne were baptized, contains many works of art, including the central panel of the Annunciation Triptych, by Barthélemy d'Eyck (15th century) and the Nativity of Jesus by Pierre Mignard (17th century). Closed to the public since 2006, major renovation and security work has been carried out. The facade has also been renovated to regain its former glory and the reopening is being prepared.
