PAINTER'S FIELD (PAUL CÉZANNE)
A place with an unobstructed view of the motif in Aix-en-Provence, where painters, including Paul Cézanne, come to set up their easels
From his studio in Les Lauves, Paul Cézanne liked to go up to this hill to paint. Here, the artist found an unobstructed view of his subject. In 2004, the Town Council laid out this 400 m² plot of land: a beautiful layout with a stone path rising for around 30 m through terraces, olive groves and cypress trees. The view of Sainte-Victoire from the belvedere has remained almost untouched, despite an increasingly urbanized environment. You have to look for the entrance, which is not very visible.
