COURS MIRABEAU
The Cours Mirabeau, created by Archbishop Michel Mazarin on the site of the old ramparts.
Created in the 18th century by Archbishop Michel Mazarin, brother of the famous cardinal, and the city's bourgeoisie, the courtyard was designed on the site of the old ramparts. There are some superb private mansions, such as: at number 4, the Hôtel de Villars; at number 10, the Hôtel Isoard de Vauvenargues; at number 19, the Hôtel d'Arbaud-Jouques; at number 20, the Hôtel de Forbin; at number 38, the Hôtel Maurel-de-Pontevés; and at number 55, the childhood home of Paul Cézanne. Four superb fountains (of the Rotunda, of the Nine Cannons, of Eau Chaude - known as Moussue and of Roi René) decorate the Cours.
