A museum offering a panoramic view of Provence on the Rhône, from the late century to the present day, to be discovered in Arles.

Created on the initiative of the poet Frédéric Mistral in the former Jesuit College, this museum offers a panorama of Rhône-Alpes Provence, from the late ^18th century to the present day. Some 300,000 everyday objects and documents are on display in 30 rooms. Costumes, books, work tools, objects of worship or superstition punctuate a most moving visit to this place of popular memory. Its recent restoration has restored the site to its former splendor, and the museography has been rejuvenated, much to our delight. A real gem!

Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30am to 6pm (last visit at 5.30pm) (last visit at 5.30pm). Closed January 1, May 1, November 1 and December 25. Free admission for children under 17 (holders of the "Collegiens de Provence" card). Adults: €8. Reduced rate €5. Museum. Store.

Une très belle surprise !

Une belle surprise, un peu hors circuit des Rencontres photos. Situé en centre-ville, musée dédié à la vie quotidienne et culturelle en Provence d'hier et d'aujourd'hui, le Museon Arlaten est à la fois une sorte de grenier magique, avec plein d'étages et une oeuvre d'art. Il vient d'être complètement rénové et a bénéficié dans ce cadre d'une intervention du créateur Christian Lacroix. Rites et légendes, costumes, artisanat, taureau, vie des mariniers... tous ces thèmes sont traités grâce à des objets souvent étonnants, à des écrans multimédia et à une mise en scène très recherchée.
