LA TOUR ANGLICA
A 30 m-high tower, built in 1365 by Anglic de Grimoard, brother of Pope Urbain V, overlooking the village of Barbentane.
It was Anglic de Grimoard, brother of Pope Urban V, who built this tower in 1365, nearly thirty meters high, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the village of Barbentane.
In the 18th century, the cartographer and astronomer Cassini used the tower's elevated position to establish valuable cartographic surveys. After the Revolution, in 1793, the remains of the tower were sold as national property, then bought back, once again, in 1852, by the Marquis Robin de Barbentane. His family still owns it.
