Tower attached to the priory of the abbey of Montmajour which served for observation and defense against the lords of Beaux.
Attached to the priory of Montmajour Abbey, this tower was used for observation and defence against the powerful lords of Les Baux. It was built between 1348 and 1353, at the request of Abbot Pierre de Canhillac, during the Hundred Years' War. The other buildings that can be seen were built during the 15th century. The coat of arms of the Canhillac family being the greyhound, it is for this reason that it appears among the coats of arms of the town of Fontvieille. The tower is a true witness of the local history.
