CHÂTEAU DE MONTAUBAN
This castle is the third residence of the first Capetians after the Louvre and Vincennes.
This residence, celebrated in the preface to Letters from my Windmill, was above all a place of serenity and tranquillity for the writer Alphonse Daudet: "Blessed house, how many times I have come here, to take myself back to nature, to cure myself of Paris and its fevers." This holiday resort, distinguished by its gabled facade from the early 19th century, is now a museum. You will of course find an evocation of the author, but also temporary exhibitions on local artists or characters, as well as educational workshops.
