SOUBEYRAN CLIFFS
The Soubeyrannes cliffs are the highest sea cliffs in Europe
The site is sublimely adorned! Nature's variations come together here, with a gentle, seductive coastline to the east, and colossal, fascinating cliffs to the west of the splendid Gulf of Amour. The Soubeyrannes cliffs are the highest maritime cliffs in Europe (394 m), and the profile of the Bec de l'Aigle (Eagle's Beak) runs the length of the coastline, accompanying the hiker as far as the eye can see. This rocky majesty plunges into an intense blue sea, giving way to sumptuous cliffs, such as the beloved calanques of Mugel and Figuerolles, where swimming, diving and hiking become a Mediterranean dream. This site, praised for its grace by Lamartine and Stendhal, has seen the beauty of its shapes exalted by many painters, including Georges Braque. To the east, the numerous valleys with their romantic names invite you to take a stroll: vallon des Brusquières, des Ténèbres, de Mallombre, de l'Ermite... Caving enthusiasts can explore the Grand Draïoun cave.
