LA CIOTAT, ONCE UPON A TIME..
The historical festival La Ciotat is dedicated to lovers and professionals of historical celebrations. La Ciotat, the crossroads of Europe and the Mediterranean welcomes over three days and two nights all these passionate ones. The festival is a huge historical epic about the great plague of 1720. Visitors will travel through time thanks to the exceptional deployment of volunteer extras, troops of artists that are amateurs and professionals of the show. An original staging inspired by the history of Provence. Parades - lively paintings -, street performances, battles on land and sea. Camps for privateers and pirates, fishing village, ancient ships, camp for beggars, country house, farm, wash point from meadow source, military camp. Games, storytelling, tavern and Court room, street shows: jugglers, musicians, acrobats will offer the festivities... Craftsmen and forgotten crafts: blacksmith, glass-blower, tin smelter, stonecutter, apothecary, coinage, tooth puller, barber, calligrapher... It is a weekend of discovery (usually late October) of ancestral knowledge, folk art and craft of art. For proof of quality, this festival received last year the quality label of the French federation of historical festivals and shows, approach supported by the Ministry of Tourism.
