LA CHAPELLE DES PÉNITENTS BLANCS
Chapel with a monumental entrance door, decorated with stones, topped by a bas-relief representing two penitents
On the edge of the cliff, overlooking the valley of the Fountain, the chapel of the White Penitents, built in the middle of the 17th century, has a monumental entrance door, decorated with stones, topped by a bas-relief representing two penitents. The interior is decorated with frescoes by Yves Brayer representing the shepherds' Christmas. This chapel is dedicated to Saint Estelle, who is in charge of perpetuating the memory of the old penitents of Les Baux. It remained in ruins until 1937.
