PORTE D’EYGUIÈRES
Go there and contact
A gate at Les Baux-de-Provence, rebuilt by the Constable de Montmorency, providing access to the Fontaine valley.
To access the valley of the Fountain, you can use the ancient and picturesque stone path of the Calade and go through the Eyguières gate or Porte de l'Eau which, until 1866, was the only entrance to the village. Rebuilt by the Constable of Montmorency, then raised in the 18th century by the Prince of Monaco whose coat of arms can be read hammered in a cartouche decorated with baroque scrolls, the gate has kept its defensive system, the cornice walkway pierced with loopholes. Beware, the climb is rough, especially at the height of summer.
