ASPERGES VERTES DE MALLEMORT
Known since antiquity for its aphrodisiac virtues, asparagus is used in various medicinal recipes.
Louis XIV was crazy about it and required his gardener La Quintinie to cultivate several squares of this vegetable.
The grandson of an asparagus grower, Didier Ferreint has been growing this precious vegetable since 1987. In 1996, with the help of his wife Sabine, he created his own farm, using methods that respect the environment, such as organic amendments that feed the soil before feeding the plant, manual and mechanical weeding, introducing auxiliaries to fight parasites and controlling water resources. Always with the same ecological approach, it recovers plastics from greenhouses and recycles them thanks to a collective group.
Asparagus is cultivated for ten years, in rotation with other annual species to respect biodiversity on the farm. You can buy the asparagus from the end of February until May 15; immediately picked, it is put on the market for the delight of connoisseurs. Since this year, Didier has been growing some seasonal vegetables, beets, carrots, turnips...
