AYGALAD CASCADE
Marseille's most popular waterfall, an island of paradise in the heart of the northern suburbs. Open on Heritage Days.
This is one (if not THE) best-kept secret in Marseille. Right in the heart of the northern suburbs, a heavenly island of freshness, greenery and wilderness awaits you. In days gone by, the waterfall was part of the nearby Château des Aygalades, which was demolished when the A7 freeway was built. The site was popular with the local bourgeoisie. Having fallen into oblivion, the site has been the focus of restoration work since 2001, and is now back in the collective memory of Marseilles. Thanks to a dense network of associations, notably the Cité des Arts de la Rue, the site has been cleaned up and returned to the public. The site is also open for Heritage Days.
