LA MARSEILLAISE
One of Marseille's oldest dailies, first published in 1943, with a far-left political leaning.
A clandestine and resistant newspaper at its beginnings in 1943, the newspaper saw its first legal issue published on 25 August 1944, the day after the liberation of the city of Marseille. This was a seminal moment in history, as the communist allegiance is to some extent the identity of La Marseillaise. Since April 2015, the daily newspaper offers an edition for the Gard and Hérault, another for the Bouches-du-Rhône and finally a third for the Var, Vaucluse, and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. A modernised piece of history for an alternative news from Marseille.
