VENTURE STREET
This rather ordinary narrow street links rue Saint-Férreol and rue Paradis
This narrow narrow street connects Saint-Ferreol Street with Paradis Street. For a long time, his interest has been summarized for quite a few years in Marseillais. And yet, this alley doesn't lack history. At number 10 was the Academy of Music, founded in the eighteenth century. The venture street "rue du Concert" was called for a long time. It was in the same building that the Protestant community in Marseille met before the temple neighboring Grignan Street was built. At number 4 was the house of "Madame Coste", a famous house closed in 1946. The building is now home to municipalities. At number 14 were the offices of the grocer Charles Meunier. For two years, the young Stendhal worked there. He lived in Rue Sainte, a stone's throw from the Grand Theater where his love of the time was officiated, Madeleine Guilbert. On the other hand, at number 19, a plaque recalls the presence in these walls of the ancient premises of the Semaphore, the great Marseille daily of maritime information. He appeared from 1828 to 1944 and has so far been the Marseilles newspaper to have experienced the greatest longevity. It was at this same address that Robert Laffont launched the same names, now one of the French leaders of the sector. A little detour by this alley and a dive into the city's history is required.
