FOREST
A dimly lit address serving Levantine and Israeli-inspired cuisine, including halla, honey-grilled halloumi...
Julien Sebbag, a highly-talented chef, is delighted to set up shop in Marseille, at the foot of La Major, for his first Phocéenne address following the success of his Parisian addresses. First of all, the atmosphere is stunning. In warm ochre tones, you are seated at huge round tables where each plate has been carefully created by ceramist Emmanuelle Roule. The subdued ambience is an ode to the Mediterranean, with touches that take us back to the four corners of the Big Blue. In the kitchen, Levantine and Israeli inspirations predominate: halla served with Yemeni harissa, halloumi grilled with honey and pink vinegar, pollack marinated in ras el hanout, it's refined and convincing. We were delighted by the octopus with aniseed spianata and coffee crumble, or the pastis baba with its stunning fennel granita for dessert. Allow two or three plates per person for tasting portions. Nice concept. Young, pleasant service. Treat yourself, go ahead.
