FRICHE LA BELLE-DE-MAI
Around 70 "frichistes" - resident artists or cultural structures - are based at the cultural hub of La Friche Belle de Mai. A 45,000 m² site where creativity in all its forms takes pride of place. Since the inauguration of the Tour Panorama in 2013, a large concrete cube with a roof terrace, visitors have been able to enjoy an immense multi-level exhibition space. Among the many artistic disciplines on display are various categories of plastic and visual artists, photographers, sculptors, filmmakers and video artists from digital cultures, musicians, artistic producers, publishers, booksellers, theater, dance, circus and street arts companies, skateboarders, hosts of the Grenouille/Euphonia 88.8 FM radio station, cooks, bartenders... A veritable nursery of current and rewarding professions evolving in the former tobacco factory. Numerous cultural events, exhibitions and shows (including the Marsatac festival in September) can be attended throughout the year. Roof Top evenings with DJs are also held in summer, as are open-air cinema evenings, with screenings of short and feature films every Sunday at dusk in July and August. There's also a small café on the way in, and Les Grandes Tables, a popular restaurant among Friche players.
