FRICHE BELLE-DE-MAI
A tobacco-manufacturing wasteland that has become a meeting place for local residents and the people of Marseilles.
A major player in Marseille's culture today, the Friche, located in the Belle-de-Mai district, is a rather incredible place. Formerly a tobacco factory, it has been open to the public since 1992, but developments have really been made for a few years now, to allow the Friche to become a place of life and meeting for the inhabitants of the district and the people of Marseille. Stroll through this impressive concrete complex, and don't hesitate to enter its galleries where artists' studios have taken up residence. Exhibitions are organized all year long. On sunny days, the Friche vibrates with the cries of children. A joy.
