Created in 1801 by the consulate, the Museum of Fine Arts is one of the oldest in Marseille, consisting of works dating from the first years of the Revolution. Permanent collections containing more than 2 000 paintings, 300 sculptures and 3 000 pieces from the th to the th centuries. Currently, 200 works are anchored in both halls. New tables on the reserve are regularly exposed. Since February 2017, the public can discover new works recently restored, including the Peste de Marseille de Michel Serre, the Portrait of André Grangier of Gustave Courbet, but also the works of Dlerm, Coypel, Faudran, Castiglione, Cittadi… Two levels to browse four centuries of European art from the th to the th centuries. The museum's originality resides in its collection of th and th century Provence with artists like Louis Finson, Jean Dlerm, Nicolas Mignard or Françoise Duparc.
