DEPARTMENTAL HOTEL
Built between 1990 and 1993 by an Anglo-French team of architects (Norman, Alsop and Lyall), the building houses the General Bouches-du-Rhone Council. The walls of the façades of this ultra-stylish building are composed of curtains, ultramarine blue. Hence the nickname "blue boat". As for the Pompidou centre in Paris, its contemporary style created polemic. Postmodern vision was not to the liking of everyone, but gradually, bold structure has made itself outstanding in Paris. Nearby, in the same air spirit, Zénith de Marseille, called Dôme because of its ovoid shape, is a show room that can accommodate up to 8,000 people.
