NOTRE-DAME-DU-MONT CHURCH
The Notre-Dame-du-Mont church is located in a square and a neighbourhood bearing the same name. In 1586, the first church was built on this site. Shipwreck-survivor sailors came there to deposit their votive offerings. This religious tradition was later moved to Notre Dame de la Garde. In the early nineteenth century, the church was rebuilt in neo-classical style of the best craftsmanship. Inside, you will find an organ on which Chopin played in 1839. In this busy area of the sixth district, it is always amazing to see the alignment of the bars and restaurants beginning just near the church. Some terraces are lucky to directly overlook the square, which permits you to admire the pristine facade and the white bell tower that dazzles with light. Note the parish and musical life of the church that is very active, connected to the web, and livening up a choir and a festival.
