ATELIER CHRIS ROUSSEL
With a passion for wood and its beautiful patina, Christophe Roussel, artisan cabinetmaker, repairs, restores and instructs. Born in the Jura region, a Mecca for woodworking, this son of a carpenter and grandson of an antique dealer was brought up with a passion for fine furniture. His father passed on his secrets to him and, on his sixth birthday, gave him his first cabinetmaker's case... Then, at school, a decisive encounter with his extremely strict cabinetmaking teacher, who instilled in him a taste for meticulous work. As an adult, he moved to New Caledonia, where he took up painting and dared to exhibit his work for the first time. Back in Paris, he worked for a company specializing in wood products. In 2001, he moved to Marseille and set up his own workshop-boutique on rue Breteuil. There, he works as a cabinetmaker, restorer and gilder, and teaches the public the rudiments of his craft .
