CARYATIDS AND ATLANTEANS

Statues of men and women that adorn facades or balconies and serve as decorative columns or pillars.
Marseille has some hidden caryatids and Atlantes. These statues of women (caryatids) and men (Atlantes) decorate facades or balconies and serve as columns or decorative pillars. The rue Davso has two beautiful caryatids (and especially one of the most famous of the Marseille inhabitants) humbly enthroned on the facade of what was once a lyrical Alhambra and which would later become the headquarter of the Petit Provençal and then the Provençal, the daily newspaper of the time. Don't forget to look up once in a while as you stroll through the streets of Marseille and have fun finding these magnificent sculptures (at the end of the Belsunce course on the Pesciolini Hotel, you'll find remarkable Atlantes).
