Restaurant offering exquisite southern cuisine based on market products in Marseille.

A restaurant suspended on the heights of the Jardin Puget, Le Sépia offers a splendid view of Marseille and promises exquisite southern cuisine. It was here that the chef Paul Langlère opened his first restaurant. The lunchtime menu changes daily according to the market produce. The evening menu, for example, offers: mussels au gratin with Basque pig, Mediterranean red tuna with satay, braised beef chuck, glazed octopus and paella juice. For dessert, fresh strawberries, almond biscuit and strawberry-poppy crisps. Always a marvellous address!

A lovely restaurant overviewing the city. We really enjoyed the creative menu with its high-quality ingredients as well as the great service. The open kitchen gives you a rare insight into how a kitchen team creates and operates.

On balance, I didn't mind the food but thought it was expensive for what was on the menu - €55 for three courses at dinnertime. The concept here is bringing together flavours from land and sea. I don't really understand this ethos, nor did I love the execution, but can see that this place is reasonably popular with locals. To my mind, the concept confuses the palate, and the dishes lacked dimension, but that is entirely my opinion - perhaps I am too traditionalist.

I would recommend coming at lunch - not only is it cheaper, but you'll be able to make the most of the view. Julis next door is probably a more affordable and casual option for dinner - it was way busier than this restaurant.

Aussi bon que beau. Un restaurant comme on l'aime: sobriété, simplicité pour le lieu et recherche et étonnement dans l'assiette. Le menu est parfait, bonnes portions et qualité/prix sont au RDV
