The memorial to the French of Algeria in Marseille, a reminder of their massive arrival after the Evian agreements in 1962.
Quite discreet, this memorial erected on the Corniche is the work of the famous Marseille sculptor César. It commemorates the massive arrival of the French from Algeria, since the Evian Agreements were signed on 18 March 1962. 9 metres high, this propeller blade symbolizes the crossing by boat of these hundreds of thousands of uprooted French people who passed through Marseille. The welcome given by the people of Marseilles was fierce, but many of those known as "Les piedss-noirs" still settled in Marseille. This monument is a fitting tribute to these exiles.
