REMAINS OF THE TELESCOPE
The téléscaphe, a neologism derived from the French words "téléphérique" and "scaphandre" is a crazy invention of an underwater cable car that was supposed to allow everyone to visit the seabed of Marseille. For twelve francs at the time, visitors could use a cabin that plunged down to a depth of 10 metres and a distance of 500 metres for a journey worthy of those of Jules Verne, lasting 10 minutes under the sea! Inaugurated with great fanfare, broadcasted on television and was only put into service once a year, in 1967, before closing for cost and safety reasons. Today, only the remains of the 4-wheels' mechanism are visible.
