CALANQUE DE CALLELONGUE
Calanque de Callelongue in Marseille, a pretty little port with typical cabanons, the starting point for many hikes.
Here the road ends in the south of the city Here the world ends, as Marseillais say. Callelongue is the starting point of the GR51 hiking trail, which leads to the calanques of Marseilleveyre, Morgiou or Sormiou, all the way to Cassis. Its name comes from calo longo, the Provençal word for long, narrow cove. There's no beach here, but a pretty little port, a few cabanons and a restaurant. There's a parking lot here, but in summer the road is reserved for local residents, so you'll have to park at Les Goudes.
Paddle and kayak. Guided paddle or kayak trips are available from Les Goudes to Marseilleveyre, via La Mounine and Callelongue. Beautiful views of the Riou archipelago.
Via cordata. A vertical walk between Les Goudes and Callelongue, via the Baie des Singes. 100-meter zip line.
Pendulum. Thrill-seekers can try the "pendulum", a pendular jump from the Ermite cave after a 45-minute hike and a climbing section.
Cycling. The road ends at Callelongue, so you can still get there by bike, electric or otherwise.
Diving. In the waters of this cove, diving from the shore, is the Callelongue grotto, which can be visited day or night, and is popular for underwater photography. You can also see a ship's anchor planted there.
