CHÂTEAU DE VAUCLAIRE
Appellation : AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence.
Property : On the Pays d'Aix wine road, 15 km north of the city, this 120 hectare estate is home to a 32 hectare vineyard in an arid and rocky soil. Bathed in sunshine and purified by the Mistral wind, the vineyard flourishes on an arid and rocky soil, which gives strength and character to its wines. Playing with these assets, the winegrowers of the Domaine de Vauclaire combine ancestral know-how, sustainable cultivation methods and the most modern techniques to produce high quality and very diverse wines. The variety of grape varieties in the vineyard reflects the long history of Mediterranean vines and allows the Sallier family to compose rich and delicate blends.
History: the estate has been in the Sallier family, a family of renowned lawyers, since 1774. Today, Adeline Sallier, Uldaric's widow, runs the vineyard, continuing a tradition that has linked the château to viticulture for centuries.
Production: the wines of the domain are declined in reds, rosés and whites with grape varieties in grenache, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, vermentino and cinsault are vinified in a traditional way and are particularly typical of the AOC. The great wine competitions of Paris, Aix-en-Provence, etc., reward every year the production of the Sallier family.
