TOUR SAINT-LOUIS
Tower located in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, now housing the tourist office and the ornithological collection.
In 1737, the proceeds of a tax on salt, which was initially intended to be used for work on the arms of Launes, were used to build the Saint-Louis Tower. This was the last of a long series of towers. They had a double purpose: surveillance post and place of refuge for the population. Today, the Saint-Louis Tower houses the tourist office and the ornithological collection on the first floor. On the second floor, there are exhibitions of local artists and on the terrace, a panoramic view of the Camargue and the Saint-Louis canal.
