LES ANTIQUES
A mausoleum dating from between 30 and 20 B.C., with a structure unique in Roman architecture.
The Antiques are two monuments that marked the entrance to the city in ancient times. These are a triumphal arch and another monument, improperly named "mausoleum", but which probably never housed remains. This edifice consists of a bas-relief-adorned plinth, surmounted by a quadrifron arch and a tholos (round temple). This architectural feature makes it unique. The triumphal arch evokes Caesar's conquest of Gaul. Both monuments have been restored to their former glory.
