CONCOURS « LES JEUNES CHEFS DE CAMARGUE »
The contest "the young chefs of Camargue", reserved for budding chefs between 7 and 14 years, is organised every year since 2002 during the week Festival of Gastronomy, in September, by the Conservatory of Camargue cookery, with the help of the Semis (Mixed-ownership Company) of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. The members of the Academy of the Kitchens of Camargue participate in a public culinary entertainment in France and abroad. They are located in the geographical perimeter of the Naturel and Régional Park of Camargue.
Committed to the charter of local conservatories that determines a number of quality standards in the selection of the products, the reception and the compliance with the Mediterranean nutricional rules, the chef or the producer joins the "Wintergarden" spirit of which he signed the commitments.
Registration: you are between 7 and 14 years, sends a recipe of your choice by mail or email at the coordinates above.
Requirements to be respected: the recipe to prepare is for 4 people and the cuisine could be done with a pan, baked or steamed, all equipment are provided in a kitchen for this event at the Relais Culturel des Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, with oven and hob. On the recipe, at the top of the page, the list of ingredients used with their weight in grams or centiliter. Explain the steps of the creation of the recipe. You have to write and illustrate this recipe by yourself. The presentation of the recipe will be marked during the first selection. Do not forget to indicate your name, your address and your phone number on the back of the page. The make-ready time will be 1hour and 15 minutes.
Sequence of the events: the jury of the Conservatory of the cuisine of Camargue will select 8 to 10 finalists recipes. To realize your recipe during the final step, all the necessary ingredients will be provided on sthe spot and you will have at your disposal, as commited to help, a chef Conservatory. The role of the chef will help you to make your recipe as well as possible, help you to present it perfectly, but without changing it or run it: you will be that chef.
Prizes to be won: 1st Prize: a purchase order from € 100 and 1 trophy offered by the Le Conservatoire Grand sud des Cuisines. the 2nd and 3rd Prizes: a purchase order from €50.
The purchase of goods are offered by the Conservatoire des cuisines Grand Sud and Camargue. All competitors participating in the final receive a diploma from the Academy, a voucher for a meal of 3 people in a restaurant of Conservatoire des cuisines de Camargue and other items (pouch of the varieties of rice of Camargue, sailing course , walks in boat ornithological park of Pont de Gau, the Camargue museum and castle of Avignon).
