CONDEMNED DOOR
On the outer boulevards, the ancient doors of the city. The Porte Gate (1379) is classified historic monument. A recent restoration made him part of the past. A wooden portal and harrow remind its defence destination when the city was surrounded by ramparts. The Porte door retains its original medieval appearance thanks to the two round and crenellated towers surrounding it, even though the ravelins and the drawbridge bridge have now disappeared. It opens on the path leading to the city of Avignon and that is where François I made his solemn entrance to Tarascon on February 3, 1516, to his victorious return from Marignan.
