Visit of the mill built by the Saracens, overlooking the beautiful village of Ventabren.
This Daudet mill overlooks the beautiful Ventabren village and undoubtedly adds to its charm. Built by the Saracens, the mill was destroyed and rebuilt like a wind mill. This is because Ventabren is a hilltop village that has difficulties in water supply. The wind mill was used for the pumping of water. When the village was electrified in 1924, the wind mill was abandoned. Although the mill lost its metal wings in 1967, it still houses the pumping systems (electrical of course!) that help to supply water to the village. The current wings are... for tourists, besides the base of the mill was rebuilt to evoke that of Daudet. You could say that it is a coquetry wink to the heritage. From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the castle ruins of Reine Jeanne and the Berre pond, Vitrolles and the Etoile Range. The village has another mill in a completely different style, an elegant building where you can organise your weddings or a seminar: Moulin de la Recense.
