PLACE DE L'ÉTANG
One of Curcuron's most beautiful squares, a superb artificial lake fed by the Luberon springs.
It's what makes the village so famous today. This superb artificial lake, located in the heart of the village, was built to supply water to the three flour mills (in the village's underground passages) and to the villagers. Fed by the springs of the Luberon, which also supplied the 8 fountains and six washhouses of the time, the pond existed in 1403 and was acquired by the Commune in 1515. At the time, it was a lake surrounded by gardens. It's one of Cucuron's most beautiful squares, a haven of freshness.
