ST. FIRMY'S CHURCH
Romanesque style church with a remarkable tower that serves as a bell tower in Gordes, the door of an old prison at its foot.
The building, in Romanesque style, was originally dedicated to Our Lady and was built on the foundations of an old 13th century church. The church was rebuilt in the 18th century and was later dedicated to its protector, Saint Firmin (Saint Firmin is invoked against inflammations of all kinds. He performed a multitude of miracles, curing the blind, deaf, dumb, paralytics, lepers, the lame, demon-possessed). The square tower that serves as his bell tower was probably a belfry that could date back to the 14th century.
