EGLISE SAINT-MARTIN
Modest church built between 1626 and 1629, quite far from the village and open once a month for Sunday mass
Between 1626 and 1629, construction began on this church in the hamlet of Clastres, to replace the ruined medieval church of Saint-Martin-de-la-Brasque. Its modest size and relative remoteness from the village can be explained by the small number of Catholic families in the commune, most of whose inhabitants were of Waldensian origin. Over the years, the building encountered problems linked to its rather mediocre construction and the hostility of the Protestant population, before being improved in the 17th century with the creation of a second altar and a presbytery. The church is only open once a month for Sunday mass.
