L'ATELIER DU MOULIN DE RIOTTIER
Gourmet workshop in Jayat elaborating saffron recipes with local and seasonal products and a wine list.
The cultivation of saffron, often associated with the Mediterranean or India, is also done in the Ain. The Moulin de Riottier, built at the beginning of the 19th century on the Reyssouze, ravaged by fire and fallen into disuse, has been given a second wind thanks to the cultivation of saffron.... saffron. Yes, this fabulous red spice, the most expensive in the world, has allowed the Moulin de Riottier to restart its activity. Céline, who comes from the world of haute couture, became a saffron grower in 2014. Her production is sold to gastronomy professionals, but also to private individuals who pass through the door of the workshop. More than a traditional restaurant, a delicious "table d'amis" where one quickly feels "at home" in a splendid setting. There is the shop where you can find all the saffron-based specialities - chutney, mustard, vinegar, jam... -There is a living room with beautiful armchairs next to a stove and a few well set tables where you can enjoy Patrice's cooking. Of course, saffron recipes are in the spotlight, but also local and seasonal products. Pleasant wine list, especially from Bugey. A nice novelty, the lunch formulas for a real gourmet break. And to prolong the happiness of being at the Moulin de Riottier, it has 3 gîtes and a massage room for our well-being. A Gourmet Workshop and a Mill lovingly recommended.
