The jousts are the oldest sports event in the city: their origin dates back to antiquity. They emanate from the naumachies that the Romans were fond of. Located in Ile Girodet, the Bourg-lès-Valence jousting basin perpetuates the tradition of tournaments during these Rhone festivals. For the occasion, the festival committee pays tribute to the river and aquatic traditions. The kick-off is given on Friday at nightfall, with the traditional torchlight retreat. On Saturday in the early afternoon, the jousts pool hosts the French championship qualifiers. In the evening, it's time for the bodegas and the grand corso nocturne along the avenue Marc-Urtin, with the bourcaine queen of the year. Sunday morning, the canteen girls cross the Vieux-Bourg, then play in the afternoon. On Monday, big evening at the jousts basin with demonstrations of jousts, fireworks, and sound and light on the Rhône. Not forgetting the funfair in town, during the three days. Festive and popular!
