THE FAUCET BRIDGE
Neoclassical suspension bridge built over the Rhône in 1847, now listed as a Monument Historique.
This magnificent 300 m-long neoclassical suspension bridge was built over the Rhône in 1847 in the spirit of "wire" toll bridges (using the Seguin technique), and has seen many vicissitudes: the flood of 1856, the Mistral of 1901, the bombardments of 1944. Each time rebuilt, it is now listed as a Monument Historique. It is one of the last suspension bridges over the Rhône. Here, the river has carved out a deep, narrow corridor in the limestone: the défilé de Donzère. A remarkable historical and natural site.
