A place of remembrance housing the graves of 35 maquisards. Remembering the tragedy of the Ventoux maquis at the Eygalayes necropolis
The Eygalayes national necropolis honors the maquisards who fell during reprisals against the Ventoux maquis on February 22, 1944. Founded by Abbé Roux, it comprises 35 graves, 20 of them in memoriam. A linden tree of remembrance holds the ashes of resistance fighter Maxime Fischer. The tragedy of the Ventoux maquis, meticulously prepared by the Germans, resulted in the neutralization of the maquis and the death of 40 people, including Bruno Razzoli, who was tortured and then executed.
